On February 17, 2026, a significant partnership was formed between the Lideta Sub-City Health Office and St. Mary’s University with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing public health efforts within the community. The agreement, signed by Ato Yohannes Habte, Medical Director, representing the Lideta Sub-City Health Office, and Misganaw Solomon, PhD, Vice President for Research and International Relations, representing St. Mary’s University, is a key step toward improving health education and services for both the academic community and the surrounding population.

The collaboration focuses on the implementation of the Health Extension Program, with a special emphasis on raising awareness about infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and hygiene. Both institutions have committed to working together to foster a healthier and more informed society by integrating health education into the school curriculum, organizing health-related clubs, and ensuring access to first aid services for students and staff.
