St. Mary’s University held a vibrant graduation ceremony at the Ethiopian National Theatre Hall, on August 2 ,2026, conferring degrees to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the presence of the University leaders, distinguished guests, families, and friends,

Addressing the gathering, Ato Tedla Haile, Executive Vice President of St. Mary’s University, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates on their remarkable academic achievements. He commended them for successfully completing their studies in diverse fields and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of faculty members, administrative staff, and families, whose unwavering support played a vital role in the students’ success.

In his remarks, Ato Tedla underscored the transformative power of education in national development. He noted that nations that prioritizing education, research, and professional training achieve greater social and economic progress. Furthermore, he highlighted that for the past 26 years, St. Mary’s University has remained steadfast in its commitment to education, research, and community service, producing thousands of qualified professionals who continue to contribute to Ethiopia’s development.


The Executive Vice President also highlighted the University’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic quality and student achievement. In accordance with directives from Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education, St. Mary’s University has implemented a structured and coordinated program designed to equip undergraduate students with the competencies required for the National Exit Examination. As a result, 71 percent of candidates who sat for the examinations administered in February and June successfully passed. He expressed his sincere appreciation to the graduates’ families, faculty members, staff, and university leadership for their invaluable contributions to this achievement.

The ceremony’s Guest of Honor, Professor Belay Kassa, an Emeritus Professor, President of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences, and Founding Fellow of the Academy, presented awards to graduates who demonstrated high academic performance. In his keynote address, Professor Belay encouraged the graduates to approach challenges with confidence, resilience, and creativity, emphasizing that every obstacle presents an opportunity for innovation and growth. He also stressed the importance of cultivating meaningful professional and personal relationships throughout one’s career.

The vivacious event was marked by joyful celebrations, academic recognition, and warm expressions of pride from families, friends, and well-wishers.
