St. Mary’s University students celebrated Culture Day Under the theme “Let’s wear Ethiopia” on December 15, 2022, at the Undergraduate Campus. The annual event, which was deliberated to showcase Ethiopia’s rich cultures, was organized by the Student Support Services Office, in collaboration with the Student Wellness Unit.
The event was commenced with the opening speech delivered by Ato Tedla Haile, Executive Vice President of St. Mary’s University. In his address, he remarked that such cultural events play instrumental role to strengthen ties among various ethnicities.
In succession, W/t Hirut Ebdo, Undergraduate Student Support Services Office Head also highlighted the need for students to know and maintain their cultural heritages. She further underscored that such an event is vital to promote the identity of Ethiopians, learn more about one another and uphold their unity in diversity.
Outfitted with colorful costumes representing the diverse cultures of the country, the students showcased Ethiopia’s rich cultures and heritages.
The colorful cultural event successfully portrayed the fusion of multiple cultural groups performing various dances in unison. The presentation of different poems and drama accentuated the cultural event. The whole performance went well and came to end laying good memories in the minds of the entire audience.
