St. Mary’s University discussed its Annual Performance Report of 2015 E.C. on December 29, 2023, at Syndicate Room, Main Campus. Ato Desalegn Berie, Vice President for Business and Administration, and the chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee for Planning and Resource Development of SMU, opened the session by introducing the purpose of the meeting.
After the introduction, Shegaw G/Medhin, Director, Center for Educational Improvement and Quality Assurance (CEIQA), presented the annual performance report of all supportive and academic offices of the University. He gave a concise overview of the 2015 E.C. plan performance in comparison with that of the 2014 E.C. He also described the activities that were fully, partially, and not completed in the academic year, as well as Offices’ performance according to the seven strategic priority areas.
The open discussion session after the report offered useful insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the different offices. The session also highlighted the importance of proper documentation and reporting, teamwork, and leadership skills in attaining the University’s objectives.
The session ended with Wondwosen Tamrat (Ph.D., Assoc. Prof.), President of SMU, recognizing the outstanding efforts made by CEIQA, all planning units and the need to learn from the successful performances observed in some offices.
The report gives a comprehensive overview of the university’s performance and serves as a useful resource for the University’s stakeholders. The university has been presenting an annual performance report for the last 17 years, which highlights the university’s mission, vision, values, and excellence.
