Memorandum of Understanding signed between St. Mary University (SMU) and Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) 

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between St. Mary University (SMU) and Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) on the 9th of November 2022. 

The goal of the MOU is to facilitate cooperation between the two organizations to create a mutually beneficial collaboration. Ato Mergiya Bayisa, Deputy Executive Director of ECX, and Misganaw Solmon (PhD), Executive Vice President for Research and International Relations, SMU, have signed the agreement.

The agreement is hoped to jointly generate new ideas that enhance the service of the commodity exchange and share knowledge, information and best experience and practices. 

During the agreement, Ato Mergiya disclosed that currently ECX has reached exchanging 17 products on its stock market. He further noted that ECX has rich and long years of experience that can serve as input for researchers who envisage engaging in the sector. 

Misganaw Solomon (PhD), representing SMU on his part, said that St Mary's University has amassed long years of research experience by organizing and conducting national and international conferences. In this regard, he expressed his pleasure to engage in this agreement to work with ECX on various joint endeavors and to engage in mutually beneficial activities.

Moreover, it was indicated in the agreement which was signed between the two organizations that there is high need for working closely and striving jointly to improve the quality of agricultural commodities and creating modern and efficient market platforms to make farmers to become primary beneficiaries and enhance the Ethiopia's export services by promoting modern and research-based market exchange.
