Faculty of Accounting and Finance
The Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Undergraduate Program, formerly called Department of Accounting under the then School of Business, was established and began its operation with the inception of St. Mary’s University in 1998 offering diploma program. It took its current shape in November 2016 with the view to provide more efficient and quality service to the rapidly growing number of students joining the Faculty and meet the skilled workforce requirements of the labor market. The Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Undergraduate Program, offers training in the field of Accounting and Finance. The Faculty has more student population compared to other departments at the undergraduate studies. In addition to undergraduate degree in Accounting, the Faculty offers various short-term training to the business community in areas of Peachtree Accounting, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).
The day-to-day operations of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Undergraduate Program, are overseen by the Faculty Dean, whereas issues pertaining to policy and institutional development are discussed and endorsed by the Faculty Academic Commission.
Admission to the Faculty is accessible to all candidates who fulfill the admission requirements set by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE). Qualified applicants are admitted to the Faculty regardless of age, gender, race, religion, nationality, ethnic origin, ability/disability and marital status.
The duration for the Degree Program in Accounting and Finance is four years for regular and five years for extension students. Students registered for the program are also required to undertake research selecting a topic in their major area, as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the BA Degree in Accounting and Finance.
