Establishment History

The Faculty of Informatics started its operation two years after the University was founded by offering 12+2 diploma programs in the regular and extension divisions in the then Department of Computer Science. It then launched its undergraduate degree program in Computer Science in 2005. Accumulating rich experience and reorganizing itself in such a way that it would provide better services that would address the needs and demands of the nation, the Department was raised to the level of Faculty and was named Faculty of Informatics. Having looked into the dire needs for qualified professionals at higher level, the Faculty launched a postgraduate program in Computer Science in 2015.


The major objective of the postgraduate program is to provide advanced level knowledge and skills in the current theory and technology of Computer Science to help graduates solve problems related to computer and information technology. The program focuses on areas that are most relevant to the needs of the country and includes advanced-level issues in the areas of software engineering and language technologies. To this end, the program intends to produce workforce well equipped with expertise, skills and attitude that will enable graduates give opinion on policy issues at various levels, scientifically perform requirement analysis and systems design operations, and localize available technologies for easy utilization.


Admission requirement An applicant, to be admitted to the MSc program in Computer Science, which is a two-year program, must have a BSc Degree from a recognized institution in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering.
